Synopsis
Monochrome Madness is a term that originated during my deep commitment to black-and-white photography. I invested in a Leica Q2 Monochrom, a camera that exclusively captures in black and white. Not only that, but it’s a fixed-lens camera—a deliberate choice that limited my options but focused my vision.
When I shared my plan to dedicate at least the next five years to this pursuit, people often looked at me skeptically. Some even called me crazy for spending a premium price on a device that restricted me creatively. Yet, I had a clear goal: to produce the best black-and-white images I had ever created and to truly master monochrome photography.
Color was always a distraction for me. I believed that I couldn’t excel at color unless I first dedicated myself entirely to black and white. I’ve always felt a deeper emotional connection when viewing monochrome images—there’s a certain magic in their simplicity and power.
This handbook is designed to be your in-the-field companion. Whether you're shooting street photography, street portraits, or conceptual work, I want you to carry this book everywhere. Let the images inspire you, and let the words encourage you to explore and grow.
