This is a unique Workshop in Tokyo Japan spanning both Day and Night, giving many hours of street photography and street portraits. It is an adventure, soaking in the culture, learning great photography and sampling Japanese food and drinks.
Day One
We will start with me taking everyone round Tokyo’s best almost hidden camera shops. This will give anyone wanting to pick up a bargain analogue camera that opportunity. They have to be seen to be believed. So many great vintage lenses that can be adapted to most mirrorless cameras. We will hit the street of Shinjuku and I will take everyone round the best streets for street photography.
I know some fantastic places to eat and after a morning of shooting we will be tasting some amazing Japanese food while we review our images.
Then off to shoot the streets again, learning my approach and what I am looking for as well as best settings for this unique place.
When the sun goes down we will meet up for drinks and some more great food as well as testing several Sake drinks. I will then be taking everyone round those neon soaked tiny streets for an experience nobody will ever forget.
Day Two
This day will be all about shadow and light. We will be visiting The Tokyo International Forum. This is a playground for great monochrome photography.
The light and shadows change all the time and each floor of the building creates many different opportunities.
After lunch we will head to Shibuya near the famous Shibuya crossing which gives so many possibilities for amazing street shots.
We will be heading back to Shinjuku on the evening for food and drinks, then experience more Cyberpunk/Blade Runner vibes. Colour or Monochrome this is everyone’s chance to practice all they have learned and have fun on those amazing streets of Shinjuku.
There are many opportunities throughout for portraits. All the locals are friendly and the bars are full of golden moments to capture street portraits.
Day Three
We will be visiting the Electric Town of Akihabara.
This is full of Anime lovers and there are lots of opportunities for street portraits.
I will have some subjects pre arranged for this day to demonstrate my approach and everyone will have the chance to put their portrait skills into practice on some compelling subjects.
After another amazing lunch we will head to Shinjuku for our last afternoon and evening shooting street and portraits. As well as some more great food and drinks.
